Mr. is a Japanese artist and protégé of Takashi Murakami’s artist-led art enterprise Kaikai Kiki Company. The artist won early recognition with a collection of drawings including anime-style characters on the back of shopping receipts. Mr.’s works are uniquely Japanese with their anime-inspired, large-eyed characters. Cheerful boys with their pants down and girls in short skirts, who appear sexually provocative, in flat color fields in a blend of Lolita and Otaku culture.
