ABOUT THE ARTIST
Huang Zhe uses the material that has become signature to his work, a type of luminescent aluminum foil on which he previously painted scenes. He is now using that same material to depict, among other things, itself. Huang applies it in layers on canvas in a sort-of collage effect, until it resembles microscopic close-ups of crystalline formations, marble striations, cells, and molecules, creating marble strata through rainbow colored foil.
