ABOUT THE ARTIST

Gianfranco Asveri (b.1948) lives and works on the hills of Gasperini surrounded by his beloved dogs. After a difficult childhood, he began painting in 1969 and art became his life’s main purpose. Starting with a traditional figurative language, his painting became more instinctive and personal, rich in color and matter, and close to the expressionism of Art Brut. Asveri approaches the surface with a powerful and primitive gesture.
